CORAL SPRINGS, Fl. – The point guard market is always one that is picked apart before any others but it is the talent and toughness of Isaiah Wong that makes him such a valuable prospect. A 6-foot-1 playmaking guard that can score, pass and defend, Wong previewed his visit to Miami on Sunday and discussed a slew of schools standing out.

Making the transfer into Monsignor Bonner this fall, Wong has not seen his recruitment stall one bit. “Things have definitely picked up. More colleges are coming in and sending emails, calling, and just trying to get me on campus for an unofficial visit,” he said before speaking on those in touch the most often. “Villanova, Miami, Pittsburgh, Memphis, Temple, and St. Joe’s. I am going on an unofficial visit to Miami on Sunday.”

Miami: “They are just saying that I could have a big role there and hopefully get good minutes, plus, their style of play is what I like. I like the warm weather down here, too.

“They haven’t talked about the Philadelphia connection on its roster but I do recognize it with Lonnie Walker going there.”

Villanova: “The offer is one that I really like. There are always good players around Villanova and they always play great together which is what I really like.

“I have been there a lot. They have a good campus, everybody around there is nice and it is close by.”

Temple: “They have just been watching me play and telling me how I can improve my game. I like them a lot.”

Pitt: “They are telling that I could be a good player coming through their system and it would be nice for me to go there.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Playing in south Florida this weekend with his high school unit at the Kreul Classic, Wong will complete his time in the state with a visit to Miami on Sunday.

No other trips are planned for the foreseeable future as he becomes better acclimated with his new home at Monsignor Bonner.

RIVALS' REACTION

Less than 75 points away from scoring his 1,000th high school point, Wong should be valued for his three-level scoring abilities, toughness and ball skills as a facilitating agent at the point guard position.

No clear front runner has emerged in the recruitment of Wong but a good visit to Miami this weekend could put the Hurricanes in a solid spot for another eastern Pennsylvania product. Villanova, Temple, St. Joe’s and Pitt remain heavily involved, too, as a number of others are expected to jump into the mix any day now.
