We don't have a fly on the wall but the word in Brooklyn is that Chris Taft, a 6-9 power forward/center from Xaverian High School, may be closing in on a decision. Several sources close to Taft told us last night that Chris has been indicating to colleges recruiting him that he is close to making a verbal commitment to Pittsburgh.
Taft has previously mentioned interest in Syracuse, North Carolina, Connecticut, and Villanova. There have been many other schools mentioned at one time or another during Chris' recruiting.
Taft cancelled his trip to Syracuse a weekend ago and has not rescheduled it. Speculation started to build in New York that Chris was not going to take any more visits. He has already been to the campus of Pittsburgh.
But with the Syracuse visit cancelled and our sources telling us that Chris is close to a decision, Panther fans may be jumping for joy in the next 48 hours. It makes sense that Taft could be ready to make a decision. Several sources have already told us he has given the word to coaches involved/were involved in the recruiting proces.
We will keep you posted.
