Irish land shooting guard

Last weekend, Notre Dame saw their football team go down while the hoops squad picked up a commitment. The same thing happened this weekend as a commitment from Patrick Connaughton came shortly before the Irish lost in an overtime thriller at Michigan State.
A 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Danvers (Mass.)St. John's Prep, Connaughton blew up in Orlando at the AAU Nationals.

Everywhere he turned, the Irish were there to see him and it paid off for Mike Brey's group.
"When I got there it wasn't like, 'Wow, I'm coming here. I really love it,' which was kind of weird for me," Connaughton told Jake Brown of IrishIllustrated. "It kind of made me second guess myself. It kind of made me think I should open up all my other options. Maybe I should call the other schools that offered me to say I want to come and see it. It did take a week for me to really realize it.
"Then it came down to Notre Dame was the best decision ... it just took awhile."
A star pitcher as well, Connaughton is expected to play both basketball and baseball at Notre Dame.
