Iowa Recruit Finds Juco Home

Doug Thomas, a powerful 6-8, 240 pound power forward from Southeastern C.C. in West Burlington, Ia., had some impressive moments at the recent Illinois Valley JUCO Jamboree in Oglesby, Ill.
Thomas, who signed last spring with the University of Iowa but didn't qualify academically, loves to flush the ball through the hoop in the low post. He is a very athletic and strong presence in the paint.

According to SCC Asst. Coach Tim Walsh, the Iowa staff paid a visit to West Burlington this fall to catch a workout. The Hawkeyes are still interested in signing Thomas two years down the road.
As a non-qualifier, Thomas will need to earn his associates degree before transferring to Iowa or any other Division I program.
"Doug is showing an improved shot around the basket," Walsh said. "We are working on his overall skill level, since he was a bit raw when he got here."
Thomas should be one of the top freshmen post players in junior college basketball this winter, and we'll keep you posted on his progress this season.
Southeastern will tip off the season this Friday (Nov. 1) at the Air Force Prep Classic in Colorado.
