There is always a place for a hard playing big man in college basketball. However, when you throw a fairly refined skillset to that motor, you then have the type of prospect that becomes a high-level priority. Darius Days is that type of recruit, as the 6-foot-7 forward has improved his ball skills and seen his stock and production improve significantly.

Due to his increased production, USC, Memphis, Virginia and Virginia Tech have expressed interest in his recruitment.

Days’ game has continued to improve as a junior. The Rivals150 standout is capable of guarding either forward position on the floor, can rebound the ball in traffic, is able to create for others around the goal and also steps out and consistently knocks down perimeter jumpers.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Days spoke briefly on the recent improvements within his game.

“Mostly my shooting and my ball handling. I am trying to be a stretch-4,” Days said. “If I develop my game more, I see myself as Draymond Green, but I really like Dwayne Bacon. I am just trying to get stronger, better my shooting and try to get my ball handling better.”

While it's early in Days' recruitment, he listed off four college programs that currently stand out above the rest.

“I would probably say, USC, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Memphis,” he said.

While Memphis is making a push and Kansas has begun to recruit Days, Virginia and Virginia Tech appear to have the upper hand for the moment in Days' recruitment.

“They both just stand out to me," he said. "Plus, it’s the ACC, which is a big conference. One day you might play Florida State and another day, you play Duke. You have great competition every night.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Days is not close to narrowing down his list of schools, but he does have a firm grasp around what he is looking for when it does come time to decide.

“A team that plays fast, a good coaching staff and guys that play for each other.” he said.

RIVALS' REACTION

Currently sitting at No. 127 in the 2018 Rivals150, Days is due to see his stock and rankings soar this spring and summer. His his improved skillset, versatility on both ends of the floor and his active motor make him a potential instant contributor at the high-major level. Look for him to commit prior to his senior season.
