Interest in Pickett growing

Early interest his heating up for three-star 2007 prospect Rico Pickett. The 6-foot-4, 170-pound shooting guard from Decatur, Ala., has had a couple SEC schools watch him workout this fall and other high majors are calling on him.
"I'm interested in Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Connecticut, Kansas, Texas and Illinois," said Pickett. "Alabama and Auburn have seen me play recently, and I've had calls from Illinois, Texas and Kansas."

Although it is early in the process and Pickett does not claim any offers yet, he does have two schools at the top of his list.
"My favorites are Illinois and Alabama," he said. "Illinois always has good guards, and I like the way that Coach Weber develops them. I would really like to hear more from them.
"With Alabama, I like the way they run their program, and I like that it is close to home."
A good athlete who excels at slashing to the rim, Pickett is working hard to develop the entirety of his game.
"I want to be more aggressive and further develop my pull up jumper," he said. "I'm working hard on the weights and getting stronger."
Pickett, who averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists per game last season, plans to run with the Southeast Elite during the coming AAU circuit.
