Chitwood participated in the Pump West Coast All-Star and NBA Players camps and adidas Big Time and Best of the Summer tournaments in July where he solidified his stock among the schools recruiting him. Other schools soon jumped on the bandwagon. Santa Clara, San Diego, Northern Arizona, Irvine, St. Joseph’s, Lehigh, Southern Utah, UC Davis (recently moved up to DI) and Oregon St. have recently called. Southern Utah has offered a scholarship.
Chitwood is an athletic wing with a nice ability to run the floor and score in transition. He also has the ability to shoot consistently out to 22 feet. Chitwood is the son of former NBA player Roy Hinson.
“My dream is to play in the pros but I know what I need to do to get there,” said Chitwood.
When asked what he is looking for in a school, Chitwood said, “I’m looking or a school with a great education and a great basketball environment.”
Chitwood said he would like to sign early but might wait until the Spring signing period.
