Interest in Alabama state MVP

It was a special year for 2007 point guard Courtney Fortson and (33-2) Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, Ala. Fortson, 5-foot-10, 175-pounds, took home 6A state tournament MVP honors as Jefferson Davis won the championship.
"It was like a dream come true," said Fortson. "All the hard work paid off for our team. We return most of our players next year and have a really good chance to win it again."

Fortson, who scored 24 points and 8 rebounds in the semis and 15 points and 8 rebounds in the finals, averaged 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists per game for the season.
Several schools have taken notice of the dynamic guard, but there are a couple southern schools that Fortson would love to hear from.
"I'm getting interest from Auburn, Murray State, Arkansas-Little Rock, UNC-Greenville and Jackson State," he said. "I'd really like to hear from UAB and Florida."
Extremely hard to guard off the dribble, Fortson can both finish at the basket and distribute the ball to open teammates. Defensively, he is a disruptive presence.
"This is a big off season," he said. "I want to keep getting better. I'm going to work on my three-point shot and get my midrange jumper a little better. I also need to work on my free throws."
