Indiana, Tennessee and Memphis battle for top PG
One of the South’s most exciting point guard prospects is Andre Allen who is touring the AAU summer league with the YOMCA Memphis team.
This past season as a 3rd year starter at Booker T. Washington High School, Allen, 5-foot-8, 170-pounds, averaged 21 points per contest, eight rebounds, eight assists and four steals per game while winning his second straight Mr. Basketball for the 2A classification.

A year earlier he became the first sophomore in Tennessee high school basketball history to win Mr. Basketball while averaging 18 points, nine assists, six rebounds and three steals per contest.
As might be expected, Allen, who is rated the 32nd best prospect in the Southeast by RivalsHoops.com, is receiving his share of attention from college recruiters and has picked up his first three offers.
“Tennessee, Memphis and Houston have all offered,” Allen said. “During the visit dates all three head coaches came to my school to talk with me. I enjoyed hearing about their programs and where I will fit in with them if that’s the school I choose.”
Allen indicated that it is still early in the process for him but currently a few schools have stood out from the rest of the pack.
“Memorial weekend I’m planning on unofficially visiting Indiana. I like coach Davis and they have a good program and long history of successful teams.”
Two other schools who have made strong impressions are in-state rivals Memphis and Tennessee and according to Allen both schools compare favorably.
“I like Coach Calipari and the way he let’s his guys play up-tempo. That is what I’m looking for because that’s the way I play,” he said. “Also, it’s close to home and they are a program on the rise.
“Tennessee is similar to Memphis because I believe they are up and coming also,” he added. “Coach Peterson is a nice guy and they have great fans. It’s not too far from how. They are recruiting me the hardest.”
Allen is also hearing from Clemson, Connecticut, and Oklahoma.
