Indiana junior is major target

Even as recently as a year ago, Gary Harris was still a relatively unknown prospect. Thanks to his emergence during the latter part of last season and a strong summer, he's no longer a secret.
Hailing from Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton Southeast, the junior has emerged as one of the top players in the class of 2012. Because he's from basketball-crazed Indiana, there's been no shortage of speculation on his choice or opponents looking to rate themselves against a four-star talent.

"I feel like there's somewhat of a target on my back," Harris told Rivals.com. "But I don't let it affect how I play. I just try to play my game."
Target or not, Harris stands out on the floor. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard is an athletic driver, slashes in transition and has developed a pretty reliable jumper.
"I try to get to the basket and to the free throw line and, when they sag off of me, shoot the jumper," said Harris of his game. "I feel like I need to work on all aspects of my game. My dribbling, my shooting and being more consistent."
Harris has grown stronger, though, and he's noticed a difference.
"It's helped me a lot," said Harris. "I can play more without getting tired, I can finish more at the rack and I feel like a stronger player."
One of the hottest names in the Midwest, Harris currently checks in at No. 24 in the Rivals150 for the class of 2012. Not surprisingly, he's hearing from some heavy hitters.
"I'm hearing from Michigan State, Indiana, Illinois, Notre Dame, Xavier, there's Michigan and mostly Big Ten schools, then Louisville, too," said Harris. "Those are most of the schools that are offering me lately."
Now on the radar, Harris is looking forward to proving that he belongs. He'll travel again with Sean Bledsoe's D3 Heat this summer and says that a decision about his college future will come when it feels right, not because he's set up a timeline for it.
"I'm just going to try and get on some visits when I can during the season," Harris said. "Then I'll get some more visits out of the season. I don't know a certain timetable, I'm just getting out and trying to take my time to find the best place for me. I feel like when I find that place I'm going to make the decision."
