Illinois wing headed to Dallas

Initially, Sterling Brown was slated to visit an SEC program over the weekend. He switched up to SMU and now his recruitment is over.
A 6-foot-4 shooting guard at Maywood (Ill.) Proviso East and the No. 130 player in the class of 2013, Brown had everything come together over the weekend on his official visit to Dallas.

According to his father Chris, Brown bonded with the coaches, loved the campus, loved the facilities that are being upgraded and having family in the area made SMU an easy pick.
"It was a gut feeling that Sterling had," Brown's father told Rivals.com. "He felt comfortable with the school. He felt comfortable with the coaching staff.
"It' his choice, his feelings. He feels great about it."
A good athlete who came alive during the Illinois state playoffs last winter, Brown is a solid jack-of-all trades type guard. He will defend, he can score off the dribble, he's a good athlete and the younger brother of NBA player Shannon Brown didn't need any promises.
"Larry Brown hasn't promised him anything but he's told him that he will play if he does the right thing," said Brown. "He feels great that his style of play fits and he'll get on the floor."
A three-star prospect, Brown is SMU's first commitment from the class of 2013.
