Illinois adds combo guard

Baltimore, Md., prospect Chester Frazier visited Illinois for the opening practice festivities and was convinced he wanted to play in the Big Ten. Chester, 6-foot-1 and 180-pounds and prepping at Notre Dame Prep, will look to run the point and shooting the ball one day for the Fighting Illini.
“I called Coach Weber today to let him know I committed,” said Frazier. “I feel really good about it and am excited to go to Illinois.

Frazier, who will play both point guard and slide over to the shooting guard position, is excited about playing in front of the Illinois’ crowd.
“The atmosphere was great at the practice,” he said. “They love their basketball. Basketball is king there right now.”
Frazier led Cecil Kirk to the finals of the Reebok Main Event in Las Vegas and was receiving heavy interest from Purdue, Fordham, LaSalle, and the College of Charleston.
Now Frazier is looking for improvement in the weight room just as much on the floor.
“I’m working on getting stronger, and I’ve improved my shot a lot, since I’ve been at Notre Dame Prep,” he said.
