Ibekwe Trims List

Ekene Ibekwe, a skilled 6-8, 210 pound combination forward from Carson H.S. in Carson, Calif., has trimmed his list to six colleges this summer.
Ibekwe helped H-Squad to a pair of victories on Wednesday at the adidas Big Time Tournament here in Las Vegas.

While he declined to name a leader or leaders for his services, he said that North Carolina, Southern California and Maryland have done the most aggressive job of courting him this summer.
In fact, Ibekwe is planning to visit Maryland officially in September, and said he's been offered scholarships by the Terps, UNC, Arizona and Southern California. Kentucky and Kansas round out his sextet of schools.
"I am going to make a decision after I take my trips," Ibekwe said. "Some of the things that are going to factor into my decision include style of play, the coach, the atmosphere of the school, the campus and a chance for immediate playing time."
In addition to his September trip to Maryland, Ibekwe is also planning to visit North Carolina, although he has no date set up for that visit. He has taken unofficial trips to nearby USC and UCLA, although he doesn't count Steve Lavin's Bruin program among those who are courting him this summer.
Ibekwe kicked off the summer at the adidas ABCD Camp in New Jersey, and then headed to the Peach Jam in South Carolina with California Team Select. He then hopped a plane back west to hook up with his H Squad comrades at the Big Time this week.
He expects to conclude the summer next week at both the Fairfax H.S. Tournament with his Carson team and at the Best of the Summer Tournament in Los Angeles with H Squad.
