Nebraska and head coach Tim Miles wanted to find a point guard capable of igniting things on the defensive side of the ball and they accomplished that Monday night.

Via a commitment video, three-star point guard Xavier Johnson announced that he will play his college ball for the Cornhuskers.

Over the past few summers, Keith Stevens the program director of Washington D.C. based Team Takeover has had the pleasure of coaching Johnson and he says that effort and willingness to get better will serve Johnson well in Lincoln.

"He's a relentless player on both ends of the court," Stevens told Rivals.com. "He has an unbelievable work ethic and is always trying to improve."

Blessed with above average quickness, toughness and long arms, Johnson also has a high motor and some versatility.

When playing the point, he's focused on getting the ball to his teammates and making the right decision. Those times he's off the ball, he uses his athletic gifts to get to the rim and make things happen. His jumper needs some work, but the plan is for him to run the show and become a high end defensive player.

Johnson is the second member of Nebraska's 2018 recruiting class and joins three-star big man Brady Heiman a homegrown product who is thin but has skill and very nice long term upside.
