Humphrey Impressive At Showcase

Florida fans are going to be very happy about having solid lead guard Lee Humphrey, a 6-1, 175 pounder from Maryville H.S. in Maryville, Tenn., on board in 2003-2004. If you recall, the Florida team site on Rivals.com, Gatorbait.net, broke the story last week that Humphrey had given a commitment to head coach Billy Donovan.
"I love the SEC," Humphrey told us after he led his team to a win last night. "I love coach Donovan too. I love his style of play and his energy. I can't wait to play for coach Donovan. He has a lot of fun with the game."

Humphrey does too. He is intense. He is a solid ballhandler who makes smart deecisions. And he can score from anywhere on the court. "I am trying to work more on my ballhandling this summer," Humphrey said. "I also want to get in the weight room and get stronger."
Humphrey had many programs interested in him in the spring and early summer. Among them were Purdue, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Auburn, South Carolina, Tennessee, UNC-Wilmington and Appalachian State.
This past season at Maryville, he averaged 22 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals per contest. He said he carries a 4.1 GPA and has scored a 27 on the ACT, marks which easily make him a qualifier under current NCAA guidelines.
"Florida is a great place to play basketball," Humphrey said. "I can't wait to play in front of those fans too. They get excited at the games. It's a great atmosphere."
