Hughes a Skyscraper

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- Liam Hughes, a 7-2, 260 pound center from Modesto Christian H.S. in Modesto, Calif., is a player who is being looked at by many mid to high major programs this summer based on his enormous potential.
Hughes, who is playing here at the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas with Darren Matsubara's EBO program, told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com on Tuesday that he has been offered scholarships by Washington, Gonzaga and Pacific.

Hughes said he is planning fall official visits to Oregon and Gonzaga. Other colleges on his list include Colorado, California, Stanford and Pepperdine. He has paid unofficial visits thus far to Pacific and California (for basketball camp).
While he doesn't move very swiftly and conditioning is a bit of an issue with Hughes, he generally plays hard and has soft touch on hit shots around the basket. He's one of those players that someone will take based on potential and size alone, knowing that big men typically take longer to develop than guards.
Hughes, who is a native of Hullbridge, England, said he carries a 3.3 GPA and scored a 1210 on the SAT.
Following the Big Time Tournament, he will wrap up the summer with the EBO club at the Oakland Slam N Jam Elite 8 Tournament. We'll keep you posted on his situation in the weeks to come, so stay tuned.
