Huggins May Have Company

Sources close to Bob Huggins tell rivalshoops.com that the Cincinnati head coach is still in the process of negociating a possible contract. Our sources tell us that if Huggins makes a decision, he would like to at least tell his team first. Currently, the team is on spring break and would not be back until this weekend.

But sources also state that Huggins will also land another million dollars if he stays as head coach of Cincinnati through this month.

Our source says that it's 50/50 Huggins leaves Cincinnati for West Virginia. The Mountaineers offered Huggins a five-year package that totals about $15 million in compensation. Included in this deal is money from television, radio, and sneaker compensation. This would also include a significant bonus at the end of the five year contract, if Huggins stays for the length of the deal, according to Big East sources.

Huggins would also have the ability to use a private jet for recruiting trips, according to our sources in the Big East.

It's also likely, according to our sources, that Cincinnati recruit Tony Bobbitt would join Huggins if he decides to sign with West Virginia. Bobbitt is an ultra talented 6-4 shooting guard from the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, Idaho. A tremendously gifted offensive player, Bobbitt had committed to Florida State out of high school in Daytona Beach, Fla. He attended the same high school as current Toronto Raptor Vince Carter, which is Mainland H.S. in Daytona Beach.

Bobbitt failed to qualify out of Mainland, and headed off to prep school in Virginia for the 1999-2000 school year. However, he did not last more than a month in prep school, and transferred to Tallahassee C.C. in Florida, where he was unable to earn his GED.

Bobbitt resurfaced last fall at CSI, where he was able to earn his GED. He played last season for the Golden Eagles, and averaged 10.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game on a deep and sophomore laden team.

Florida State and Cincinnati were the most serious suitors for Bobbitt. Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Florida State, and Minnesota were also considered.
