Howard Recovers From Injury

The Atlanta Celtics are usually a top attraction when they play at any AAU event. There are three simple reasons -- Dwight Howard, Josh Smith, and Randolph Morris. Each of these forwards is likely to make a living in the NBA in the near future.

However, one of the three did not participate in yesterday's Three Stripes tournament held at a new facility called Rebounds in Neptune, New Jersey. "I'm not playing in the tournament," said Howard, who could challenge Al Jefferson and Shaun Livingston for the top spot in the Rivals150. "In the all star game (ABCD on Friday night in Teaneck, New Jersey) I fell hard. I hurt my tailbone."

Howard didn't put on a Celtics uniform but did participate in some layup drills in the second pool game on Saturday night. "I should be okay later in the summer," said Howard, 6-11. "I just want to make sure I am okay."

Howard was more than okay at the ABCD camp. He might have been the best player there. He dominated much of the competition and continues to showcase his sweet quickness in the low post. Joakim Noah would be the only other player that had as good or better camp. "I had a lot of fun at the camp," Howard said. "There are some really good players there. It was great to go up against those players."

Howard wasn't the only player that had fun. Glen "Big Baby" Davis bounced around the perimeter in the all star game daring Howard to come out and guard him. Howard laughed when asked about the situation. "He was just having fun," said Howard, who flashed a big smile.

Howard is a talented big man who is very modest. He has stated for the record he is focusing in on college first though he didn't want to name a defined group of schools he was interested in. He wasn't even sure if he would make a decision in the fall or sign in November.

NBA scouts have followed Howard around too. They are likely to be in Las Vegas in the next tournament Howard is expected to compete in. Dwight is off to a great start so far in the summer AAU sessions. He is only increasing his stock for the NBA scouts with his quality of play.
