Howard considering six

Skilled power forward Matt Howard impressed Rivals.com with his play during the spring. As Howard, a 6-foot-7, 220-pounder from Connersville (Ind.) High School, enters the July evaluation period, he is considering six schools.
"Matt is currently looking at Butler, Xavier, Indiana, Miami-Ohio, Purdue and Dayton," said Howard's travel team coach Pat Mullin of the Spiece Central Stars. "All of them have offered, and he would like to make a decision sometime in August.

Having already visited all of these schools except Purdue, Howard is headed to Purdue for a visit this weekend. His AAU teammate JaJuan Johnson just recently committed to the Boilermakers.
Working on his strength and perimeter shooting, Howard excels with his high skill level, feel for the game and strong motor.
"As a rebounder, Matt has a great knack for knowing where the ball is going off the glass," said Mullin. "He also gets his hands on a lot of loose balls.
"Offensively he attacks the glass hard and draws a lot of fouls. His perimeter shooting has really improved over the last year. He's an unselfish player and never stops running the floor."
Howard, who is the No. 99 prospect in the Rivals150, turned down invitations to play in the shoe company camps in July.
Matt Howard scouting report:
Howard is a mobile big man with a nice feel for the game. He has a knack for positioning himself for rebounds and is a skilled scorer in the low post. He also passes quite well, but does need to improve his shooting range and strength.
