How Strawberry Fits In At Maryland

It came as no surprise that Darryl Strawberry, Jr., a 6-4 to 6-5 swingman from Mater Dei High School in California, committed to Maryland. The big question was when it would happen. Over the past 24 hours, Strawberry did make it official for the Terps.
RivalsHoops.com's reporter Russ Blake has seen Strawberry play many times. "Darryl has an active body and runs the floor well," Blake said. "He has a pure pullup medium range jumper. He has long, lanky frame he has yet to fill in."

Strawberry had stated he had a great visit to Maryland. "It was real nice," Strawberry, Jr. told us. "I had a great time seeing the campus. It was the first time I had been to Maryland. I enjoyed hanging out with the players and watching the football game."
Blake added: "He is a good athlete. I was especially impressed with his ability to shoot off the dribble. He has good size too. I would think he would be a taller version of Drew Nicholas. He comes from a great high school program in Mater Dei, a team that is always playing the best competition."
Strawberry, Jr. previously told us he was also considering Southern California, Pepperdine, and Kansas. But last week when RivalsHoops.com spoke to Darryl, Jr., Strawberry indicated he was close to committing to Gary Williams' program.
