Houston Talks About His Decision

Jerrell Houston knew for a while that he wanted to play college basketball at Mississippi State. "I had seen the campus without having a player take me around a while ago and I liked it then," said Houston, who made the verbal commitment yesterday. "I went to a camp at Mississippi State and I really liked what I saw."
Jerrell also said the team spirit at Mississippi State was impressive. "What I saw made me feel real comfortable," he said. "The team was real close. They helped each other. They listened to the coaches."

Houston, a 6-7 small forward from Memphis East High School in Tennessee, feels he can fit in right away. "There should be playing time at that position," Houston said of the small forward slot. "But I have to work on my weaknesses this summer."
Houston, who will attend the ABCD camp in Teaneck, New Jersey next week, wants to work on his frame too. "I have to get bigger and stronger," he said. "I have to continue to work on my shooting before I play for Mississippi State."
Jerrell also praised the facilities at Mississippi State too. "They are real nice," he said. "I think they can help you become a better player."
