Houston Gets Point Guard

Lanny Smith, a 6-2, 160 pound penetrating point guard from Eisenhower H.S. in Houston, Texas, has verbally committed to the hometown school.
He told RivalsHoops.com's reporter Russ Blake that his favorite school was Texas but since they apparently weren't as interested him, told the Cougars he would be staying near home. Other schools that had offered Smith scholarships were Baylor, Oklahoma and Texas Christian University. Smith had unofficially visited both Baylor and Houston.

Smith, who has a 1080 SAT score, kicked off the busy July evaluation period at the adidas ABCD Camp in New Jersey, followed by competition with his AAU squad, the Houston Superstars, at the Three Stripes Tournament, the adidas Big Time Tournament and the Oakland Slam N Jam Elite 8 Tournament.
