SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Connecticut and Kentucky fans should be excited about their incoming point guards. What other fanbases should feel good about their coaches work on the recruiting trail based on Sunday action at the Hoophall Classic?

KENTUCKY-BOUND GREEN ALREADY LOOKING TO LEAD

The last time Rivals.com saw Kentucky bound five-star Quade Green, he didn't look to be at the top of his game at the City of Palms. It turns out he was playing through injury, but after some time to heal Green is back to his usual self. Actually, Green was better than that in a dominant 29-point, 10-assist and five-rebound effort that helped his team beat Greensboro (N.C.) Country Day.

Green will be a different style of point guard than De'Aaron Fox and is more out of the mold of a Tyus Jones-type. He's also a winner, he's a competitor and he can make things happen for his teammates. Maybe most important to next year's Kentucky team is that Green will have to be respected as a jump shooter and the Wildcats will certainly need reliable shooters.

Green told Rivals.com that he's as much into five-star center target Mohamed Bamba's ear as he can be. If he can help land his former summer teammate with the PSA Cardinals, the newly minted McDonald's All-American will get his first college assist.

ASHTON-LANGFORD NEXT UP AT UCONN

Connecticut head coach Kevin Ollie rolled through the Hoophall with a pair of assistant coaches on Sunday and he had to have liked what he saw out of Wolfeboro (NH) Brewster point guard Makai Ashton-Langford.

A four-star prospect and future Husky, Ashton-Langford just missed out on a triple-double finishing with nine points, 10 assists and nine rebounds.

Brewster is loaded with talent, so Ashton-Langford's job is to keep everybody happy. He does that and he also plays tough defense. He'll allow the Huskies' other guards to relax and look for their offense because he should be a steady hand at the point.

Huskies fans should also be excited about Josh Carlton, who played Saturday. Recently moved into the Rivals150, the 6-foot-8 senior proved that he belonged at the Hoophall. He's got soft hands and budding skill to go along with a strong build.

WHO ELSE SHOULD BE HAPPY?

Isaiah Stokes
Isaiah Stokes

Neither Isaiah Stokes of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG or combo guard Micheal Okauru of Wolfeboro (NH) Brewster had huge days. However, Florida fans should still be feeling pretty good about the potential of these two. Stokes is a wide body with low post game and a jump shot while Okauru is a big-time athlete with size who should be able to play the point and two guard in during his time in a Gators uniform.

Before the early signing period, Purdue was able to get in and land 6-foot-7 combo forward Aaron Wheeler of Brewster Prep. Wheeler is a guy who could have big upside for the Boilermakers. He's long, very athletic and has the tools to become a high level college defender. He has to get stronger and add some more skill, but it was promising to see him shoot some jumpers with confidence. He looks like a good long term prospect.

Finally, what a weekend for the Temple signees playing in the Hoophall. After Nate Pierre-Louis had a big game on Saturday, power forward J.P. Moorman was terrific on Sunday. He finished with 26 points and seven rebounds and looked like a future versatile scorer in the AAC. Moorman has always been tough, but seeing him hit a few stepback threes and seeing the overall polish he had on offense was impressive. The Owls have a sneaky good class.
