Holmes makes the call for MVC team

Denver Holmes took one official visit and saw enough to call it a day. The three-star guard is taking his game to Evansville.
Holmes, a 6-foot-4 guard from Olathe South (Kansas) High School, visited the Missouri Valley Conference school recently and decided he was ready to suit it up for Marty Simmons and staff.

"The coaches and the players, mainly," Holmes said when asked about why he picked Evansville. "I went up there on visit three weeks ago and really like the small campus and the fact that it is not big school. They only have 2,500 students there so there is a lot of one on one with teachers. Plus, I got along with players and felt it was right for me."
Holmes also unofficially visited Saint Louis and considered Florida Atlantic, Arkansas State and UMKC. The opportunity to play multiple positions was also intriguing, Holmes said.
"He sees me playing mostly the two and might the play one some and that was pretty exciting," he said. "I've played point all my life except when I played with K.C. Pump N Run, where I was more of a shooter and a slasher."
Holmes is the first player to commit to Evansville in the class of 2008.
