Hollis finds a home

One of the reasons why George Washington University is having a tremendous season is because of their ability to find players under the recruiting radar. The Atlantic 10 program did it once again over the weekend as they landed Florida wing forward Damian Hollis.
The 6-foot-7, 180-pound small forward from Taravella High School in Coral Springs, Fla., said the A-10 school was the most consistent program to recruit him.

"They were really the only school that I trusted," Hollis said. "Some teams only recruited me when I was playing good. When I played not so good, they vanished. I didn't want to play for a bandwagon school. (GWU) was recruiting me bad or good."
Playing for a proven winner isn't a bad decision either, he said.
"That was a plus. It is the cream on the cake," Hollis said.
Hollis, a three-star prospect, was a hot commodity this season for several other programs. The skilled wing forward is averaging 20 and 10 for the year and mixed with his athleticism, versatility and shooting ability, GWU is a nice fit for his skill package. He said he was holding offers from Florida Atlantic, Nebraska, Rhode Island, Seton Hall, St. Bonaventure and UAB.
"They said they see me playing three because they have a couple of guys that are 6-7, 6-8 that can shoot the three but then go to the basket right now. They will be graduating this year and they want me to fill their presence," Hollis said.
Hollis visited the Washington D.C. campus two weeks ago and he said he was impressed with the urban campus.
"It was a crazy campus," Hollis said. "Everyone loves basketball up there. It's all they knew."
It will soon be what he knows, too, after his senior season.
