The Hoop Group brought together some of the top teams from New Jersey along with a little New York flavor to the Battle of the Boardwalk at the Convention Center in Asbury Park, NJ. this past Saturday, January 19, 2002.

The first match up of the afternoon in a 1:00 pm start was Toms River South HS vs St. John Vianney HS. St. John Vianney, led by game MVP and senior Cheri Wittlieb, beat Toms River South (45-30).

In the second match up at 2:30 pm, it was Rumson-Fair Haven HS vs Marlboro HS. Marlboro led by their trio of Street & Smith All-Americans, game MVP Sharnee Zoll with 18 points, Chakhia Cole with 13 points and Brina Pollack with 9 points, beat Rumson-Fair Haven HS (54-40). Rumson-Fair Haven HS was led by their star senior Chrissy Fisher who has committed to the University of Maryland with 23 points.

In the final match up of the day in a 4:00 pm start, it was Christ the King HS vs Red Bank Catholic. Christ the King, led by their core group of top flight juniors, beat Red Bank Catholic (57-51) in a closely fought game. Game MVP Candice Lindsay's paced the New York squad with 10 points & 11 rebounds. Shay Doron, Corinne Turner and senior Cigi McCollin, who has committed to Hofstra, University netted 12 points apiece. Red Bank Catholic was led by the solid play of junior Alisa Kresge with 19 points.
