Hoerner Headed to the Mountain West

Brett Hoerner, a 6-foot-10, 190-pound center from Fullerton (Calif.) High School has taken his name off the board. Hoerner, who runs with the Belmont Shore AAU program, is headed for the Mountain West Conference instead of the Pac-10.
“I’m actually committing to San Diego State tonight,” said Hoerner. “I’m just waiting on Coach Fisher to call me back.

“I chose them over Washington because I wouldn’t have to redshirt. I’ll have a better chance to play at San Diego State.”
Hoerner continued with his comments on SDSU.
“I really like the coaching staf a lot. Coach Fisher is a good coach and is in the process of turning the program around.
“San Diego State is a nice university. They’ve got really good facilities, and I’ll have a chance to play with a couple of friends.”
Hoerner is a skilled big man with a nice upside, but he does need to get significantly stronger to make an impact on the division one level.
