A year ago, massive 6-11 Oklahoma big man Julius Lamptey used the Nike Peach Jam as the setting for his coming out party.
This year at the Peach, another big fella -- All-Ohio Red's Josh Higgins -- did the same.

The 6-11, 300 pound Higgins helped All-Ohio Red win the prestigious Peach Jam title with his rebounding and physical presence in the paint. He wasn't a dominant factor in every game, but with his size and strength, Higgins was hard for opponents to ignore.
Higgins told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com that he has been offered scholarships by Drake, Evansville and Buffalo, and has particularly high interest in Drake and Washington.
"I kind of want to get away from home when I go to college," he said.
In addition to the quartet of schools listed above, Higgins also listed Dayton, Illinois, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Iowa State, UConn, Rutgers, Stanford, Tennessee, Air Force, Williams & Mary, Ball State, Bowling Green, Marshall, Miami (OH) and Illinois State.
Higgins has taken unofficial visits to programs such as Bowling Green, Wake Forest, North Carolina and Dayton, although the two ACC programs mentioned are not currently recruiting Josh.
Even though he's not fleet afoot and not a factor in basketball games that resemble track meets, it will be interesting to see if high majors begin calling with scholarship offers after the Peach Jam. A league like the Big 10 is known for having big physical centers, and a number of programs from that conference had expressed preliminary interest in Higgins this spring.
This past season at Vandalia Butler (just outside of Dayton), Higgins averaged 15 points, nine rebounds and four blocks per game. He said he has a 3.1 GPA and scored a 21 on the ACT.
Higgins kicked off the summer at the Nike All-American Camp in Indianapolis, and then headed to the Peach Jam. He will wrap up the summer with All-Ohio Red at the AAU Super Showcase and AAU Nationals, and we'll have coverage from both of those events and keep you posted on his performances.
