High-majors watching Pickett

High-major schools are taking notice of Decatur (Ala.) High School point guard Rico Pickett. Iowa State is the latest school to make it down to Decatur to watch the 2007 three-star prospect.
Along with Iowa State, who watched Pickett, 6-foot-4, 170-pounds, play last night, Alabama, Auburn and Iowa have also evaluated him this season.

More schools are certain to follow as Pickett is listing Connecticut, Texas, Alabama, Auburn, Iowa, Iowa State, Mississippi, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Louisville, Kansas and Illinois as schools of interest.
Three schools do, however, standout as his favorites.
"Alabama, Illinois and Connecticut are my top three schools," said Pickett. "I like that Alabama is close to home. I also like Ron Steele and their guards.
"I'm a big Dee Brown fan and like the way that he is used in Coach Weber's system.
"I like UConn's offense, especially the way they get up and down the court. I enjoy transition basketball."
Pickett, who is averaging 20 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds per game this season, achieved his most important score recently with a 22 on the ACT. He has a 2.9 GPA to go along with his test score.
Rico Pickett scouting report:
With a very nice combination of size and athleticism at the point guard position, Pickett is an unselfish set up man with good court vision. He can also score from outside and at the basket. Presently, he is a good defender and will become an even better defender as he gets stronger.
