High Majors Tracking Ofori-Attah

High majors continue to evaluate and track high scoring combo guard Edwin Ofori-Attah from Statesville Christian (NC) High School. South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt are all watching the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Ofori-Attah.
“He just got back from an unofficial visit to South Carolina,” said his high school coach John Jordan. “They seem pretty interested. One of their assistants showed up at a 6 A.M. practice. He said they have one scholarship to give and want to see Edwin play in a game. Oklahoma is coming in Thursday. And [Assistant] Coach Jackson from Vanderbilt watched him play and said they are coming back to watch him again.”

One school that was high on Ofori-Attah’s list might be dropping out of the picture.
“Minnesota is looking at a 6'7 juco right now,” said Coach Jordan. “They seem to have a question about his defense. The game they watched he was sick and we had to play a lot of zone. He didn’t look really good, but he is a good man to man defender on any of the perimeter positions.”
Originally from Germany, Ofori-Attah scored 42 points in the second half against Mt. Zion Christian Academy. He also scored 54 against the Italian Junior National Team and broke the North Carolina single game scoring record with 71 points in a game.
Coach Jordan did mention that Ofori-Attah’s recruitment is going slower than expected because of a mistaken perception that Ofor-Attah has attitude issues stemming from his time at Montrose Christian. Coach Jordan said he did not fully understand this perception of his star player, since he has never had a problem with him and has found him to be a pleasure to coach.
