High Majors tracking Harden

Possessing the making of a high major shooting guard prospect, three-star 2007 prospect James Harden is beginning to field interest from a number of schools. Harden, 6-foot-5, 200-pounds from Artesia High School in Rancho Dominguez, Calif., names five schools that have his interest.
"I'm interested in Texas, Connecticut, Georgia Tech, USC and Washington State, but I'm definitely still open," said Harden. "USC and Washington State have been in to see me play. Texas is calling. Connecticut and Georgia Tech are just writing right now."

A rangy lefty, Harden is a smooth athlete with a very good shooting stroke. He can score both off the pass and the dribble. As he acknowledges, however, his ball handling does need improving.
"I'm working on my ball handling and getting my teammates involved in the game," he said. "My greatest strength is my ability to shoot the ball, but I can also attack the basket."
As a talented prospect, Harden is using his basketball ability as a means to an end.
"First and foremost, I'm concerned with academics," he said. "I'm using my basketball to get a quality education."
As a sophomore, Harden averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds per game.
