Playing for Meadowcreek High School in Atlanta, Ga., 2007 prospect Chris Allen comes out of the same region as Louis Williams and some people are already comparing the two. Allen, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound shooting guard, already has an impressive list of colleges tracking him.
“Chris is doing really well right now,” said Allen’s father and AAU coach Stacy Allen of the Atlanta Aztecs/Team Reebok. “He scored 33 points in his first game of the season.
“He and Louis are in the same region, and most people around here think he will be the next big national name from this area. They are already comparing him to Louis. They guarded each other when last year. I think Chris had 17 and Louis had 23.”
Rivals.com spotted Allen this summer at the 15-under AAU Nationals playing for the Aztecs along with Gani Lawal. Allen drained numerous threes, scored off the dribble and has the length to cause problems on the defensive end. Whether or not he will be the next Louis Williams still remains to be seen.
It was at the Big Time Event in Las Vegas where Allen averaged around 25 points per game, however, where the coaches got a look at the young shooting guard.
“Coach Felton at Georgia likes him,” said Coach Allen, who played football in college at Kentucky. “He said he would love to have him and Gani as a package deal. Michigan State has seen him. North Carolina is interested in him. Florida invited him to one of their camps this summer, but he couldn’t go. Both Virginia and Kentucky saw him in Las Vegas and have inquired about him.”
Allen, who averaged 15 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds per game as a freshman, will square off against Louis Williams once in December and again in January. This weekend his Meadowcreek squad will face Norcross High School, led by Jodie Meeks.
