Stephenson, who is slated to run with the South Carolina Ravens this summer, is being recruited by Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Clemson, South Carolina, Charlotte, Miami, Arizona and Auburn. According to Coach Curtis Wheeler of the Ravens, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Charlotte, Arizona and Auburn are pursuing Stephenson the hardest.

Although not a long range shooter, Stephenson has good size at the guard position and very good court awareness.
"Jerel is a slasher with great court vision," said Wheeler. "He doesn't shoot it great but doesn't shoot it bad. He is just very intelligent and understands mismatches and knows how to control a game."
Although he primarily plays small forward for his high school team, Stephenson projects as a ball handling guard in college.
This past summer he was impressive at the adidas Top Ten Camp for underclassmen where he was selected to the all star game.
