High majors checking up on Reed

Tyrel Reed, the 6-foot-2, 175-pound shooting guard from Burlington (KS) High School has quietly established himself as one of the most heavily recruited players in the class of 2007. Reed has already conducted a number of open gym sessions with several elite level programs and, as it stands right now, a number of other highly successful programs are scheduled to do the same throughout the week.
"North Carolina is planning to make a trip here to watch Tyrel in the gym," said Stacy Reed, the father and coach of Tyrel Reed. "Stanford and UNLV were here yesterday to watch Tyrel practice in the gym.

"Wichita State, Iowa, Illinois, Purdue, Vanderbilt, and Ball State have also expressed an interest in coming out to watch Tyrel practice. I also know that a coach from Kansas is coming by this week to watch Tyrel in the gym," said Reed. "I really do not know what coach is coming, but I do know that a coach from Kansas will be here.
There is no doubt that the recruiting process can become hectic and overwhelming at times, but Reed and his family have really enjoyed the process so far.
"Oh yes, we have really enjoyed the recruiting process," said Reed. "It really has not had that big of an impact on Tyrel, as he just goes about doing his own thing. He still gets up in the morning and goes to the gym to workout "
