High Majors after the Delks

2005 prospects Reginald Delk and Richard Delk of Jackson Northside (Tenn.) High School had an impressive weekend at the Kingwood Classic with the Midstate Ballerz. The Delks were tracked by several programs and had six offers before playing in their first national event of the AAU season.
“We have offers from Florida, North Carolina State, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and UAB,” said the more talkative Richard Delk. “We haven’t made any type of decisions. We are just waiting for more offers.”

The Delks went on to list Alabama, Connecticut, and Clemson as schools that they would like to hear from.
Plenty of coaches were in the stands at one of the secondary locations to watch the Delks play on Saturday morning. Buzz Peterson, Stan Heath, Rod Barns, Oliver Purnell, and assistant coaches from Mississippi State and Memphis.
Also in attendance was George Raveling of Nike who is planning on having both of the Delks at this summers Nike Camp. Look for Chris Rivers, however, to make a strong push to get both players at the Reebok Camp as well.
At one time, it was thought that the 6-foot-4 Reginald Gordon was the better prospect, but it looks like the 6-foot-5 Richard Delk is catching up if not in fact caught up with his twin brother. Reginald, who has a great feel for getting the ball in the basket, is the better mid-range scorer and slightly better long range shooter. Richard, who will play point guard at the high major level is the better ball handler, defender, and rebounder. Reginald is good at these areas as well but not as good.
