High-major interest in Nebraska shooter

Every team needs a shooter, and the pure shooting Aaron Brandt will fill that role for a college in a couple years. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound shooting guard from Bishop Neumann High School (5-1) in Wahoo, Neb., is averaging 16 points per game, and plenty of schools are interested in the 2006 prospect.
"Aaron is getting a lot of interest from Stanford, Creighton, Nebraska, LSU, Iowa State, Wichita State and Southwest Missouri State," said Brandt's AAU coach Neil Harris of Nebraska High Five. "He is a pure shooter, consistent out to 23 feet. He also has a nice intermediate game.

"Besides his shooting ability, he is actually strong for his size and finishes well around the basket. He's also a good defender."
Coach Harris noted that ball handling is the one area where Brandt could improve the most, and he is indeed improving in that area.
"He does need to work on his ball handling, but he working really hard at it," said Harris. "I watched him play the other night and was impressed by the progress he is making."
Also a standout hurdler for the Bishop Neumann track team, Brandt carries a 4.0 plus GPA, taking AP courses.
"Aaron is just an outstanding kid," said Harris. "He is probably at the top of the ladder as far as character goes."
