Josh Heytvelt, a skilled 6-foot-8, 220 pound power forward from Clarkston (WA) is one of the top frontcourt prospects on the West Coast. So it comes as no surprise that many of the top programs in the country are involved in his recruitment. He has recently boiled things down to a select group of schools. "I've narrowed it down to five," said Heytvelt. "Arizona, Kansas, Oregon, UNC, and Gonzaga."

Heytvelt noted that Gonzaga has offered. With his top five settled, the next step will be to take his official visits, which he hopes to make after the summer season is over. "I'll probably take them in the fall," said Heytvelt.
Heytvelt knows exactly what he's looking for in a college - a winning program. "My biggest factor is if they can take it all the way," said Heytvelt.
Heytvelt currently ranks as the #30 ranked power forward by RivalsHoops and ranks #106 overall in the Rivals150. He has spent this spring playing with his Seattle Rotary Select AAU team, where he teams up with Marvin Williams up front to form one of the top bookend forward tandems on the circuit. Recently at the Rose City Showcase in Portland, OR, Heytvelt showed off a nice shooting touch from the perimeter, spotting up for open three's while patrolling the lane on defense with several shot blocks.
Heytvelt has liked what he's been able to do so far this off-season. "I think I've really improved from last year to this year in my shooting, my back to the basket game, and my defense," said Heytvelt.
Things that Heytvelt will need to improve on include his strength, his post moves, his quickness, and his intensity on the playing floor. If you recall, Heytvelt's name was prominently mentioned earlier this year in connection with the scandal at Washington where an assistant coach made improper recruiting contacts with underclassmen.
