Herzog names four

With his Flint Powers (Mich.) High School team riding an 18-2 record into the playoffs, Tom Herzog is playing a pivotal role in his team's success. A potent shot blocker, the 6-foot-11, 215-pound center is scoring points on the offensive end as well. As good as he is now and with as much upside as he has plenty of schools are recruiting Herzog, but he presently has a top four with two in-state schools at the top.
"I'm interested in Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Illinois," said Herzog. "They have all offered. Right now, I'd say the in-state schools are in front.

"I'm looking for a good fit for me. I'm looking for good coaching and a spot where I can develop my game."
Herzog has already taken unofficial visits to Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame, and he plans on setting up some official visits during the summer.
Averaging 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks per game this season, Herzog is a dominant defensive player with his ability to block shots. Not an overwhelming athlete, Herzog does have good body control and a great sense of timing, which along with his length allows him to defensively control the game around the basket.
Already a good offensive player and rebounder, Herzog will only get better as a scorer and rebounder as he gets stronger. And it is improving his strength that is the focus of his development as a player.
"The main thing I need to work on is to add strength and add weight," he said. "I think as I get stronger, I will continue to improve at all the areas of my game."
Strong in the classroom with a 3.99 GPA, Herzog will run once again with the Michigan Hurricanes this summer.
