Herbert Hill Talks About Decision

Herbert Hill, a 6-8 (or 6-9) and 205-pound center/power forward from Kingston High School in North Carolina, told us it was the visit that made him give a verbal commitment to Providence College.
"I had such a great time on my visit," Hill said. "I took my time though. I came back. I discussed it with my family and then I made a decision."

Hill said he had offers from East Carolina and Oklahoma. "I was also interested in College of Charleston and Charlotte," Hill said. "But I felt that Providence was the best place for me."
Hill came on the recruiting scene over the past several months and became even more valuable due to the lack of talented big men available in the class of 2002. Hill averages 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocks per game. "I want to get into the weight room," Hill said. "I feel I can get to about 220-225 pounds by the time I play for Providence."
Hill's commitment gives the Friars much needed help in the middle and helps strengthens Providence's future next season. "I will do whatever they want me to do," Hill said. "I can rebound and block shots for them. Whatever they need I will do."
Hill said he is a big college basketball fan and has watched many Big East games. "I realize I will have to add some strength to play in the league," Hill said. "I am ready to do. Once my season is over I am going to get into the weight room and work hard."
Hill's high school team finished 23-3. They have a first round bye in the state playoffs.
