Hayward turning heads on the trail
Each spring there are numerous players who raise their recruiting profile through outstanding play on the AAU circuit. This year, one player who has really taken his game to another level is 6-foot-6 G/F Lazar Hayward from Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, MA. Rivals.com spoke with Hayward this past weekend at the Rumble in the Bronx for an update.

Hayward's team, the GC Ballers, won the Gold Division title at the Rumble in the Bronx and with stud guard Paul Harris on the west coast, Hayward stepped up his game and claimed the MVP award for the event.
Colleges have taken notice of Hayward's improvement as well, and he holds scholarship offers from Pittsburgh and Charlotte, as well as heavy interest from Marquette, Florida State, and Iowa State. Look for that list to continue to expand heading into the July evaluation period.
At nearly 6-foot-6 and 205 pounds, Hayward presents an impressive array of skills wrapped in a college-ready body. He has evolved from primarily a catch-and-shoot perimeter player into a multi-dimensional scorer who's not afraid to bang inside or put the ball on the floor. He has a knack for getting into good scoring position and can finish in traffic.
This weekend was not a one hit wonder for Hayward. He was named to the all-tournament team at both the Southern Invitational and the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions in May, two of the month's most prestigious events.
At Notre Dame Prep this past season he averaged 27 points and 9 rebounds per game. He is on track to qualify academically.
Hayward will attend the adidas Superstar Camp in July and is expected to participate in the NBPA Camp later this month in Richmond, VA.
