Bryan Harvey, the No. 53 ranked player in the class of 2005 and one of the better performers at last weekend’s Spring Showcase, will have a chance to go against Louis Williams, the No. 8 ranked player in the class of 2005 in his Southern California All-Stars’ first game at the Kingwood Classic. A good showing will push the 6-foot-5, 190-pound combo guard’s stock even higher.

Harvey’s recruitment is wide open right now, but he did mention three schools after one of his games last weekend.
“I like UConn, Syracuse, and Kentucky, but I am still wide open,” said Harvey, who plays for Dominguez High School in Las Angeles. “I want to go east to play. I’m not sure this is true, but I have heard there is more competition in the east. I also want to get away from home.”
Although academics may be an issue with Harvey, look for him to have an expanded list of schools this weekend in Houston. Texas and Kansas, as well as many other schools, were impressed with Harvey’s play last weekend in Vegas.
Harvey had the ball in his hands the majority of the time for the Southern California All-Stars, even spending a significant amount of time at point guard. Despite the occasional forced shot or drive, Harvey made solid decisions with the ball and, even more importantly, he made plays. He rarely turned the ball over, and he was the go-to-man when it came to creating offense.
Harvey, who does have much more of a scorer’s mentality than a set up mentality, projects as an ideal shooting guard who can do something with the ball late in the shot clock and can run the point in a big lineup. He is physical, confident, and strong with the ball.
“I primarily see myself as a shooting guard, but I can also play some one,” he said.
Along with his quick release and strong body, one of the oddities of Harvey’s game that makes him difficult to guard is that the right hander prefers to go left.
“I love to go to the hole, but I am working on going right,” he said. “Even though I am right handed, I go left about 95 percent of the time.”
Harvey averaged 18 points and 9 rebounds a game during the past high school season.
