Harrell a beast at TOC

CHAPEL HILL, NC- The Tournament of Champions started out Friday night with a round of three games, and the most impressive prospect in the Dean Smith Center was 2012 prospect Montrezl Harrell.

At 6 feet 7, 218 pounds and with a 7-foot-3 wing span, Harrell was a dominant presence on both ends of the court against J.P. Tokoto's Wisconsin Playground Warriors club. Harrell ended up with 29 points for Carolina Elite 16-Under in a buzzer beater loss, but also had numerous rebounds and blocked shots.

A high level athlete with a high level motor, Harrell brought an impressive competitive edge to the court. He is not the type to make plays off the dribble, but he finishes off plays and even hit both of his three-point attempts.

Clemson, South Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech have offered at this point. Duke, NC State, Florida and Xavier are schools showing interest.

J.P. Tokoto (2012 Wisconsin Playground Warriors 16-Under)- The highly recruited small forward put up 13 points in his team's win largely on impressive slashes to the basket. Tokoto has a quick first step and great body control and hang time on his finishes. He also has the ability to attack and finish with his left hand. Areas of improvement at this point are his outside shooting and being a physical rebounder on the defensive end.

Phillip Nolan (2012 Wisconsin Playground Warriors 16-Under)- This 6-foot-10 center doesn't have much offense at this point and is awful thin, but he needs to be on the high major radar as a prospect because of his ability to run the floor and block shots. In other words, he is a developing big man with athleticism and a high ceiling.

Bernard Sullivan (2011 Team Charlotte)- A powerfully built 6-foot-7 power forward, Sullivan impressed with his ability to create space in constricted areas and score. He is also a strong presence on the boards.

Virginia Tech (offer) is his leader, and Clemson, Virginia and Davidson have also offered. He is also considering interest from Penn State.

Bobby Parks Jr. (2011 M33M)- Parks played the point guard position almost the entire game but that didn't prevent him from scoring. Indiana Elite played soft on the ball screens and Parks lit them up for 31 points with 18 of those points coming off three-pointers. The lefty also got to the rim in the transition game.

Parks has a Memphis offer and Mississippi State offer and is expecting one from Providence once they finish analyzing his academic status. Interest is also coming in from UCLA. Parks will spend much of the summer playing for Nike in Asia and also playing for the Philippines National Team.

Kevin Ferrell (2012 Indiana Elite)- A sturdy and quick point guard, Ferrell was Indiana Elite's most impressive performer in its close win over M33M. He knocked down three-pointers when open and created scoring opportunities off the dribble. His 16 points along with Cody Zeller's 16 points led Indiana Elite.

Damien Leonard (2011 Team Power)- Leonard doesn't do that much inside the arc, but is he ever lethal outside the arc. He is proving to be one of the top deep shooters in the class.

Kevin Ware (2011 Atlanta Celtics)- The Tennessee commit did a nice job running the show for the Atlanta Celtics. He attacked the rim with confidence at choice times and even knocked down a three-pointer.

Tyler Lewis (2012 Team Loaded)- How does a player with Lewis' stature dominate a game? He is fast with the ball, has it on a string, has unparalleled court vision, can make any pass, is a creative finisher and knows how to draw fouls. Needless to say, he was fun to watch and his teammates love to play with them. Like a Steve Nash, Lewis provides energy to his team because they know he will deliver them the ball if they work themselves open.

Kaleb Tarczewski (2012 New England Playaz)- This 7-foot post player is quite an impressive prospect. He has great hands, runs well, has a frame to add weight onto and finishes with composure.

Alex Murphy (2012 New England Playaz)- He will need to gain strength and learn to play lower to the court, but at 6-foot-8 Murphy has quite an impressive skill set. He can score on the move, knock down the deep ball and he sees the court as a passer. There is a bit of Mike Dunleavy to his game.

Joseph Uchebo (2011 CP3 All Stars)- Uchebo looked impressive in the glimpses we got of his team's blowout win. The big news out of the 6-foot-9 post player's camp is that he will enroll at North Carolina State as a 2011 recruit and not a 2012 recruit.
