Hansbrough Makes His Decision

The recruitment for Tyler Hansbrough has finally ended. The 6-foot-9, 230-pound power forward from Poplar Bluff (Mo) High School was scheduled to make his announcement during a press conference on Monday evening, but word began to spread earlier today that the No. 8 ranked player in the class of 2005 has decided to attend North Carolina.
“I made my final decision last Monday after returning from vacation and I had just thought things through,” Hansbrough told CarolinaBlue.com. “I told my parents that I wanted to go to North Carolina and they were very happy for me.

“My relationship with Coach Williams was the deciding factor in my decision,” he added. “He just did a great job of recruiting me, and he made my family very comfortable. I just cannot wait to play for him next year.”
Hansbrough, the fourth best power forward in his class, had officially visited UNC, Kansas, Missouri and Kentucky.
Hansbrough and his father, Gene Hansbrough, took a second visit to Carolina several months ago and, from that time on, it became clear that the Tar Heels were the team to beat.
Rivals.com will have more coverage on the Hansbrough decision later this evening.
