Hannah Still Sleeping

If first impressions are always the best impressions, then Stefhon Hannah should feel pretty good about himself. RivalsHoops.com first saw the 5-foot-11, 160 guard this summer at an event and we’ve raved about this mid major sleeper talent ever since. We caught up with the Hyde Park HS (IL) guard Monday night and to our surprise, his recruitment is still sleeping.
While his list of schools is small (Jacksonville State, Lehigh, Northern Illinois, Alabama State and Marquette) don’t expect it to be limited to those few come the regular season. He’s one of those players that puts the doubters aside and proves his merit on the hardwood. That’s evident by his ability to score, even at his small stature.

At his small size and with the face of a kid much younger than his age, this super shooting guard put on a clinic at the Atlanta Basketball Classic back in June. With games of 45, 38 and 34 points in the tourney, he opened some eyes and made believers out of all that were in attendance.
Naturally, teams want to play Hannah at the point guard spot – which he can – but the Chicago native likes the ball his hands as a shooter.
“I feel more comfortable playing the two but people say I’m too small. It didn’t seem to stop me this summer though,” Hannah said. “I know they say it’s different at the college level but I think I can do what I gotta do regardless.”
He’s flirted with the idea of taking some unofficial visits and is making a trip to Jacksonville State this weekend. “My mother wants me to go to there because they’ve been recruiting me the hardest,” Hannah said. Northern Illinois is also trying to get Hannah in for an unofficial visit as well.
He will take his SAT on October 25th and after that, he’s just ready to get the regular season started.
“I haven’t really thought about (the recruiting process) that much,” Hannah said. That’s why he said he’s going to likely wait until the spring signing period, in hopes he can boost his school list.
“That’s what I might want to do because a lot of colleges still don’t know about me.”
His Hyde Park HS team will get the season started off on November 18th, when they play in the Farragut HS Thanksgiving tournament. Illinois powerhouses Julian and Crane as well as the host team will be playing.
