Hairston To Visit UCLA And Ohio State

The last few days have been very hectic for Malik Hairston. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard from Renaissance High School in Detroit, MI., had reportedly scheduled official visits to UCLA and Ohio State, but later indicated that there was some confusion surrounding the report. After spending the last few days talking with his family, the confusion is now over.
Hairston will officially visit UCLA and Ohio State on back-to-back weekends. It is not yet known if any other visits will be taken.

“I will visit UCLA during the weekend of August 28 and Ohio State during the weekend of September 5,” Hairston said. “At first I didn’t know if these dates would work for me, but everything is set-in-stone.
“My mom’s birthday is on August 30 and that was when UCLA originally wanted me to visit, but I’m coming in a few days early, so I don't think I will miss that. Kansas and Ohio State both wanted me to visit on the same weekend, but I’ve decided to visit Ohio State.”
Hairston had previously indicated that he would take as many as five official visits, but that may no longer be in the plans.
“I would like to schedule an official visit to Kansas, but I don’t know if or when that will take place,” he said. “There are a few other schools that I would like to visit as well, but nothing has been scheduled at this time.”
UCLA and Ohio State have done an excellent job with their recruitment of Hairston. Several of the nation’s most prestigious schools are just hoping they can get him in for an official visit, but the Bruins and Buckeyes beat everybody to the punch.
Rivals.com ranks Hairston No. 6 on the Rivals150 list and the best shooting guard in the class of 2004.
