Gwynne headed to SoCon
Matt Gwynne took three official visits and the 6-foot-9, 235-pound power forward from the Christ School in the North Carolina mountains is headed to the Southern Conference. The three-star forward knew where he wanted to go as soon as he saw the campus of his future home.

According to Gwynne's head coach David Gaines, Tennessee-Chattanooga is the place for the skilled face up four man.
"He called me when he was on his visit and told me that he was ready to commit. I know he really liked VCU and Western Carolina and felt like those schools were great schools but when it came down to it, he really got a great feel for Chattanooga," Gaines said.
"He really liked the tradition of excellence that they have in the Southern Conference. He felt really welcomed there. Coach (John) Shulman were really active in his recruitment and he just loved the city of Chattanooga. It's a great fit."
Gwynne averaged 21 points and 11 rebounds as a junior last season at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, N.C. Now at the Christ School, Gwynne is transforming himself into a complete players, says Gaines.
"Matt is a tremendously skilled offensive player. What we hope to deliver to Chattanooga is someone that is in the best shape of his life and someone that values the defensive side of the ball as much as he does on the offensive end," Gaines said.
"Since the first day that met him, I've found him to be willing to do whatever we asked him to do," Gaines said. "He's reached that maturity level of someone who realizes that he doesn't know everything and that if he just listens to someone that maybe knows a little more than him, he'll be able to get better. That is what he's been able to do since he's been here."
