Ricky Lucas, a 6-5, 195 shooting guard from Herndon, VA, committed to George Washington, according to today's Northern Virginia Journal.
Last week, Lucas told us he was down to five schools, Penn State, Kent State, DePaul and Rutgers, in addition to the Colonials. Other schools that were recruiting Lucas included Connecticut, George Mason, Hofstra, North Carolina State, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Towson, Virginia Tech and Yale.
RivalsHooops.com's number 95 player in the class of 2003 has transferred back to Herndon High School after spending last season with Stu Vetter's Montrose Christian High School. He told us, "I made the change because I think I can be a better player in a different program."
Lucas averaged 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal per game last season. Playing with the Fairfax All-Stars, he was named to the all-star team at the Big Time Tournament. Lucas' next event is the Charlie Weber Invitational in early October.
This is GW's second year coach Karl Hobbs' first recruit for the class of 2003.
