Gullens flying high

6-foot-6 190 pound junior forward Andre Gullens from Harlan HS in Chicago is quickly becoming one of the most sought after recruits in the midwest. Rivals.com spoke with coach Ray Gregory of the Eddy Curry Runnin' Rebels to get the latest on Gullens.
"I've seen him develop since the sixth grade and I really feel that he is a player to be reckoned with nationally," Gregory told us. "He's been a one man wrecking crew at Harlan, and I really don't feel like he's gotten the attention he deserves."

Gullens scored 25 points Thursday night to lead Harlan to their third win of the season against only one defeat, and major college coaches are paying attention, even if the national scouts aren't.
"I know that Arizona, Louisville, Marquette, Illinois, and Mississippi are recruiting him pretty hard, but there are lots of other schools calling too," Gregory said.
He averaged 24 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks per game last season, and really impressed observers this past summer at the Reebok ABCD Camp in Teaneck, NJ.
Gullens is a long-armed multi-dimensional wing player in the Scottie Pippen mold. He's a good perimeter shooter and he thrives in transition. Super athletic finisher who can also work off the dribble in the half court setting. He's a defensive presence who really knows how to use his length and quickness to wreak havoc in the passing lanes.
Gullens is a solid student who's taking classes in preparation for the ACT.
"I really think that in the right program, he can be a dominant college star who'll develop into a very good NBA player," Gregory said.
Look for Gullens this spring and summer once again playing for Gregory and the Runnin' Rebels.
