When the majority of the class of 2006 signed their national letter of intent In November, Ruben Guillandeaux decided to buck the norm and wait things out until after his senior season. Now the 6-foot-5, 180-pound shooting guard from St. Patrick's High School in Elizabeth, N.J. is seeing the rewards from his decision.
Guillandeaux came out with al guns blazing at the City of Palms, scoring 20 points in St. Patrick's opening round game against Glenn (N.C.) High School. He showed that he's more than just a deep threat.

With guys like Corey Fisher, Jeff Robinson and Yves-Mekomgo-Mbala around him, Guillandeaux was able to put the ball on the floor and show off other aspects of his game. That's St. Patrick's strength, he said.
"We all play off of each other. We like playing together and we know what everyone can do. It makes it a lot easier to score for me," said.
With the intent of landing a higher level scholarship, Guillandeaux is still somewhat inconsistent as a scorer but shows flashes that could fare well under the biggest spotlight.
"I'm still wide open," he said.
Southern Cal, Washington State, Rhode Island, LaSalle, Pitt and Virginia all dot his list. Guillandeaux says all have offered. USC came in to watch him play at the City of Palms.
"I'm just want to play the season out and see what happens," Guillandeaux said.
