Guillandeaux is staying close to home

Ruben Guillandeaux was one of the top shooting guards still left in the class of 2006. After entertaining a number of schools from across the country, the
6-foot-5, 180-pound shooting guard from St. Patrick's Hgih School in Elizabeth, N.J., decided to put an end to his recruitment.

Guillandeaux verbally committed to LaSalle after considering USC, Washington State, Central Florida and St. John's.
"It was close to home and I like the staff a lot," Guillandeaux said. "I feel like I can play right away there."
A sweet stroking wing, Guillandeaux could very well been a player that could make a good career for himself at a high-major school. He visited USC before the season but decided on staying closer to home.
"I wanted to be comfortable wherever I played and that's what I felt with LaSalle," he said.
Guillandeaux's commitment is a huge get for an already strong class for the Atlantic 10 program. He joins his St. Pat's teammate Yves Mekongo-Mbala, Philly natives Brian Grimes and Rodney Green and Paterson (N.J.) Catholic forward Kamanni Barrett in the class of 2006.
"We have a good recruiting class coming in. I think we can take the program on the up and up," Guillandeaux said.
